US Lawmaker Blames Pakistan-Based Groups for Pahalgam Attack
A US lawmaker named Bill Huizenga said that a terrorist attack in India, which killed 26 people, was carried out by groups based in Pakistan.
These groups are called Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF).
The US government has also officially named these groups as terrorist organizations.
The attack happened in a place called Pahalgam in India.
After the attack, India did something called Operation Sindoor to respond.
The US is also giving money to Pakistan to upgrade its fighter jets.
The lawmaker also talked about India's involvement in groups with Russia and China, and how India is trying to use less Russian energy.
US lawmaker Bill Huizenga blamed Pakistan-based groups LeT and TRF for the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, India, that killed 26 people.
The Trump administration designated LeT and TRF as foreign terrorist organizations in July 2025.
India responded to the attack with Operation Sindoor in May 2025.
Huizenga's remarks come amid shifting US-India-Pakistan dynamics, including a $686 million US package to upgrade Pakistan's F-16s.
The lawmaker also expressed concerns about India's participation in forums involving Russia, like the SCO, but noted India's efforts to reduce reliance on Russian energy.
