Shiv Sena Backs Uniform Civil Code Push in NDA-Ruled States

The Uniform Civil Code, or UCC, would create one set of personal laws for everyone.

Amit Shah said the UCC should be introduced in the 21 states governed by the BJP or its allies before 2029.

Eknath Shinde supported Shah’s position.

Shinde said Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray wanted one country and one law.

Maharashtra has not yet made a final decision on the UCC.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state would act after a committee submits a draft bill.

However, JD(U) leader Shyam Rajak said his party does not support implementing the UCC in Bihar.

The statements show that some NDA allies support the proposal while others oppose it in their states.
