Telangana Launches Clinic Inspections After Fertility Fraud Scandal
After the recent fertility clinic fraud involving Namratha, Telangana is checking all IVF and fertility clinics.
A special team is inspecting these clinics to make sure they follow the law.
The goal is to make sure clinics have proper registration and follow rules about patient consent, gamete sourcing and procedural documentation.
They will also look into complaints and potential issues with public officials.
They'll create a report and provide suggestions to prevent similar problems in the future.
Telangana's Health Department initiated a state-wide inspection of ART clinics after the Namratha case.
A three-member committee, led by the Health Commissioner, was formed to supervise the inspections.
The committee will ensure compliance with legal, clinical, and ethical standards.
35 special teams have inspected over 65 private centers.
The committee must submit a detailed report to the state government in 10 days.
