Oil Prices Drop Sharply in 2025
Oil prices dropped a lot in 2025 because there was too much oil and not enough people buying it.
This made the prices go down by about 18%.
The price of Brent oil, which is a type of oil from the North Sea, was around $61.13 at the end of the year.
There are also some worries about what might happen in 2026, like if there will be even more oil than people need.
Some countries that produce oil, like those in OPEC+, are meeting in January to talk about what to do.
In India, the rupee, which is the money they use, also went down by 5% because people were taking their money out of the country and there was more demand for dollars.
This made it harder for India to buy oil and other things from other countries.
Some people think oil prices might go up a little in 2026, but not by much because there is still a lot of oil.
Oil prices dropped sharply in 2025, with Brent crude down around 18% and WTI at $57.75 a barrel.
Oversupply concerns and geopolitical tensions contributed to the price decline.
OPEC+ is expected to discuss production levels at their January 4, 2026 meeting.
The Indian rupee depreciated by 5% in 2025 due to capital outflows and dollar demand.
Analysts project a surplus of 3.85 million barrels per day in 2026, keeping prices range-bound.
