Kerala Rains Cause 8 Deaths, 8 Missing, 13 Injured

On Saturday, Kerala in India had very heavy rain that caused big landslides and floods.

Because of the water, eight people died, eight people were missing, and thirteen people were hurt.

Many houses were destroyed or damaged, and almost six thousand people had to move to special relief camps.

The state government, led by Chief Minister V D Satheesan, said it would help families who lost homes or jobs.

The government also asked volunteers and local groups to help clean up and fix roads.

Weather officials warned that more heavy rain and strong winds could come on the next few days, so people were told to stay safe.

The government is working with the disaster agency, the meteorological department, and rescue teams to keep everyone safe.
