Kangra's Dehra-Beas bridge bars heavy vehicles for safety month

This is a story about a bridge in India.

The Dehra-Beas bridge is in Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Officials worried the bridge might not be safe for very big and heavy vehicles.

So they made a new rule for one month.

Vehicles heavier than 19 metric tonnes cannot cross the bridge.

Only lighter vehicles are allowed to use it.

The heavy vehicles must take other bridges instead, such as the Chamba-Pattan and Nadaun bridges.

The rule starts on August 15 and ends on September 14.

It was made to keep everyone safe.
