Road Cave-In and Pipeline Damage Deepen Gurugram Water Crisis

Gurugram had problems with both too much water and too little water.

Heavy rain flooded several roads across the city.

At the same time, broken pipelines reduced water supplies to homes.

A road near IFFCO Chowk then collapsed and formed a large hole.

Officials believe a leaking sewage pipe washed away soil under the road.

Traffic police closed off the dangerous area and redirected vehicles.

The National Highways Authority of India and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority started repairs and pumped water from the hole.

The rain also stranded school buses, so officials created new rules for school transport during heavy storms.
