Mission URJA Illuminates Tikona Fort & Villages
Mission URJA is a project that brings solar power to places where electricity is hard to get.
It was started by the TREEI Foundation in 2022 and has already helped more than 1,400 homes and 8,400 people in tribal villages.
The project recently added solar lights to Tikona Fort and the villages around it.
This makes it safer and easier for people to live and work after dark.
The project also trains local youth to maintain the solar systems.
The goal is to expand this to 100 villages and 50 forts by 2028.
This helps people stay in their villages instead of moving away for better opportunities.
Mission URJA, led by TREEI Foundation, brings solar power to 40 tribal villages in Maharashtra, impacting 8,400 people.
Recent installations at Tikona Fort include solar street lights, CCTV cameras, and a Solar Tree, enhancing safety and tourism.
The initiative trains local youth as solar technicians and involves village committees in governance and maintenance.
Mission URJA's Fort Edition focuses on heritage sites, improving safety and supporting tourism-linked livelihoods.
The project aims to expand to 100 villages and 50 forts by 2028, promoting sustainable energy and community development.
