Telangana HC Orders Child's Return to Adoptive Parents
The Telangana High Court told the police and child welfare department to give a child back to his adoptive parents.
The court said keeping the child away was not good for him and that the Supreme Court had given similar orders before.
The child was taken from his parents in May 2024 because of some rules about adoption.
The parents said they followed the rules and the court agreed.
The court also gave bail to a man accused of murder.
The man was in jail since November and the court said he could be released with some conditions.
The victim in the murder case was an online trader from Mumbai whose body was found in the Krishna river.
Telangana High Court ordered child welfare authorities to return a minor child to his adoptive parents, citing the child's best interest and Supreme Court precedents.
The child was taken into custody in May 2024 due to alleged violations of adoption guidelines and allegations of money exchange, despite the parents' pending CARA application.
The court criticized the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for declaring the child legally free for adoption without deciding the parents' pending application.
The state opposed the plea, alleging violations of guidelines but conceding no allegations of child abuse or ill-treatment.
The court granted conditional bail to a murder accused, Chalimamidi Mahesh Reddy, considering the period of incarceration and the stage of investigation.
