SAD seeks state empowerment for exams
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) wants the Indian government to let states handle their own exams.
They say this will make exams fairer and more secure.
The SAD leader, Daljit Singh Cheema, thinks that having strong rules at the national level but letting states run their own exams will help prevent cheating.
He also said that the government should focus on preventing exam leaks by using better technology and security checks.
The government is going to introduce a new law to make exam cheating punishable by stronger penalties.
This comes after a big exam, called NEET-UG, had a paper leak, which made students protest.
SAD welcomes the proposed Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.
SAD calls for empowering states to conduct their own recruitment and institutional exams.
Daljit Singh Cheema emphasizes the need for preventive measures like robust SOPs and secure technology.
Centralized examinations are seen as more vulnerable due to India's vast geography and logistical challenges.
The bill aims to address exam irregularities following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy.
