Teachers oppose renaming Dyal Singh College
Teachers at Dyal Singh (Evening) College in Delhi are upset because the university wants to change the college's name.
They say this is not the first time this has happened.
The teachers feel that the university did not follow the right steps and did not ask for their opinion.
They are worried that the college might be split or moved to a new place.
The teachers' group has asked the university's head to stop the name change and take back the proposal.
They have also said that similar attempts were made in 2017 but were met with resistance.
The Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF) objected to the proposed renaming of Dyal Singh (Evening) College.
The renaming proposal was sent to Delhi University on December 5, 2025, without consulting key stakeholders.
The DTF claims the move bypasses statutory procedure and excludes teachers, non-teaching staff, and students.
The teachers' group warned of possible bifurcation or relocation of the college.
The DTF demanded that the university administration halt the renaming process and withdraw the proposal.
