Madhya Pradesh Faces Deadly Cattle-Related Road Accidents
In Madhya Pradesh, India, there is a big problem with cattle on the roads.
Every three days, someone dies in an accident caused by cattle.
Over the last two years, 94 people have died and 133 have been hurt in these accidents.
The government says they don't know how many of these cattle are stray because the police don't keep track of that.
They also don't help farmers when cattle damage their crops.
The government is already taking care of a lot of cattle in special places called gaushalas, and they have spent a lot of money on this.
People are worried and want the government to do more to solve this problem.
Madhya Pradesh has seen 237 cattle-related road accidents in the last two years, resulting in 94 deaths and 133 injuries.
The state government does not distinguish between stray and domestic cattle in accident records.
No compensation is provided to farmers for crop damage caused by stray cattle.
Nearly 4.5 lakh cattle are housed in registered gaushalas, with the government allocating Rs 296.20 crore for their upkeep.
Legislators are calling for the government to address the issue as a serious agricultural and public-safety crisis.
