Amina Orfi to Become Youngest Squash World No 1
Amina Orfi is a squash player from Egypt.
She is about to become the youngest woman ever to reach the top of squash rankings.
She earned this achievement by winning the Qatar Classic in Doha.
In the final, she beat Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy after a match lasting 107 minutes.
El Hammamy had been ranked number one for 11 months.
Orfi is 19 years and two months old.
This means she will break a record set by Susan Devoy in 1984.
Orfi also became the youngest women’s world champion earlier this year.
She hopes to defend her title and compete for a gold medal at the 2028 Olympics.
Egypt’s Amina Orfi will become the youngest-ever women’s world No. 1 when rankings are released Monday.
Orfi secured the milestone by defeating compatriot Hania El Hammamy in Friday’s Qatar Classic final in Doha.
The 107-minute victory ended El Hammamy’s 11-month reign at the top of the rankings.
At 19 years and two months, Orfi will surpass Susan Devoy’s record, set in 1984 at age 20 years and two months.
Orfi also became the youngest women’s world champion this year and is targeting the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
