UK Regulator Fines Woodford £46 Million Over Fund Collapse
Neil Woodford, a once famous investor in the UK, and his company got in trouble.
The government fined them a lot of money, about $61 million, because they made bad investment choices that led to the collapse of their fund.
Woodford himself was also banned from being a boss in the investment world.
The government said Woodford's choices were "unreasonable" and made it hard for investors to get their money back.
Woodford and his company are fighting the decision, saying they did nothing wrong and feel bad for those who lost money.
The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) fined Neil Woodford and his fund empire £46 million.
Woodford was personally fined £5.88 million and banned from senior management roles.
Woodford Investment Management received a £40 million fine.
The FCA cited "unreasonable and inappropriate investment decisions" before the fund's collapse.
Both Woodford and his company are challenging the decision in the Upper Tribunal.
