Adani Ports Clarifies Vizhinjam Port Expansion
Adani Ports, a big company that builds and runs ports, said some things in the news about expanding a port in Kerala, India, weren't quite right.
They explained that they're working on a big project called the Vizhinjam Port.
They've already finished the first part of the project and are now starting the second part.
To do this, they need to ask the people who own shares in the company for permission at a special meeting.
After they said this, the price of their shares went up by nearly 5%.
This means more people want to buy shares in the company.
Adani Ports clarified a media report about the expansion of Vizhinjam Port in Kerala.
The company is developing the port in two phases under a PPP model.
Phase 1 was completed in 2024, and Phase 2 is currently underway.
An Extraordinary General Meeting (EoGM) is scheduled for February 2, 2026, to seek shareholder approval for the Phase 2 EPC contract.
Following the clarification, Adani Ports' shares surged by 4.64%.
