US to Impose New Tariffs on 60 Countries
The United States is about to announce new tariffs on goods from 60 countries, including big trading partners like China, the European Union, and India.
These tariffs, ranging from 10% to 12.5%, are being imposed due to concerns about forced labour.
The announcement comes just before a temporary 10% global tariff is set to expire on Friday.
The US has been using tariffs as a way to renegotiate trade deals, but the Supreme Court recently ruled that the president cannot impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Despite this, the Trump administration is moving forward with new tariffs, which they believe will be more durable than previous ones.
