Meta Agrees to Share Child Abuse Data Directly with India

Meta has agreed to give Indian cybercrime investigators information about accounts linked to child sexual abuse.

This can include names, email addresses, and internet addresses.

These details may help police find suspected offenders more quickly.

Before this, reports from Meta were sent first to a US organization called the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

That organization then passed information to authorities in other countries.

Indian officials said this extra step could slow urgent investigations.

The agreement allows Meta to share the information directly with Indian law enforcement.

Meta must still report such cases to the US organization under US law.
