Assam College Develops Rapid ASF Detection Kit
Imagine a disease called African Swine Fever that can quickly kill pigs.
Scientists at a college in Assam have created a quick test to find this disease.
It works like this: put a drop of a pig's blood on a special paper, and if two lines show up, the pig has the disease.
This test gives results in minutes, much faster than the old tests that took days.
The fast results help farmers stop the disease from spreading.
The test is safe for humans because ASF only affects pigs.
The college is also making a 'Lab-in-a-Suitcase' to test for more pig diseases.
Assam Agricultural University developed a rapid detection kit for African Swine Fever (ASF).
The kit can detect the ASF virus in pig samples within minutes.
The development helps farmers and veterinarians to quickly diagnose ASF.
The test requires a single drop of a pig's blood to produce results.
AAU is also developing a 'Lab-in-a-Suitcase' to detect multiple pig diseases.
