West Bengal Tribunals Restore 91% of Decided Electoral Appeals

West Bengal is checking many names on its voter list through a process called SIR.

People could appeal if their names were marked as not eligible.

Tribunals have finished examining 82,782 appeals.

They put 75,443 names back on the voter list.

They removed 7,339 names.

South 24 Parganas had the most names restored so far.

Congress MP Isha Khan Chowdhury said the number of appeals was much larger than the number of voters marked not eligible.

She asked the Election Commission to explain this difference.
