Monday crucial for SRTT ahead of Tata Sons AGM

Monday crucial for SRTT ahead of Tata Sons AGM

This story is about a big Indian company called Tata Sons and the charity trusts that own a large part of it.

A trust called the Sir Ratan Tata Trust has been told it cannot hold its own meetings.

That rule was made because officials want to check complaints about how the trust is run.

Because the trust cannot meet, it cannot sign the papers it needs to take part in the company's big yearly meeting.

That meeting, called the AGM, is happening on Tuesday.

At the meeting, shareholders will vote to keep the company's chairman, N Chandrasekaran, on the board.

He has already said he will stop being chairman in February 2027.

The company will also pay shareholders a very large dividend this year.

The trust is hoping a court will let it hold meetings again so it can take part.
