India's Internet Users Surpass 950 Million in 2025
India now has over 950 million people using the internet.
This big number comes from more people in villages and small towns getting online, as well as the popularity of AI tools and short videos.
More than half of these internet users are from rural areas.
However, about 579 million people in India still don't use the internet.
Many people, especially young ones, are using AI features like voice search and chatbots.
Short videos are very popular, with more than half of internet users watching them.
In cities, online shopping is becoming more common, and many people use more than one device to go online.
Some people also share devices to access the internet.
India's internet user base reached 958 million in 2025, with rural users accounting for 548 million.
AI adoption is growing, with 44% of users engaging with AI-enabled features, especially among younger audiences.
Short-video consumption is a key growth driver, with 588 million users, or 61% of India's internet population.
Urban e-commerce is deepening, with 230 million people, or 56% of the urban active internet base, shopping online in the past year.
Multi-device usage is rising, with 193 million multi-device internet users, up from 165 million in 2024.
