Doctors Treat Rare Blood Disorder, Save Pregnant Woman and Baby

A pregnant woman became very sick because of a rare blood problem called TTP.

TTP can cause tiny clots to form inside small blood vessels.

These clots can make the number of platelets in the blood fall sharply.

The woman’s platelet count was only 10,000, and her haemoglobin level was 5.5 grams.

Doctors at Yashoda Hospital gave her emergency treatment.

Her condition improved and her platelet count increased.

The doctors said both she and her unborn baby are safe and healthy.

The hospital has special facilities, including plasma exchange, to treat rare blood disorders.
