Court Dismisses Humayun Kabir's Z Plus Security Plea
Humayun Kabir, a politician from West Bengal, asked the court for special security protection called Z Plus.
The court said no and told him to ask the central government for help instead.
Kabir said he needs protection because he feels his life is in danger.
The court said only the central government can decide who gets what kind of security.
Kabir used to be in the Trinamool Congress party but was suspended after he started his own party.
He wants to work with other parties that are not Trinamool Congress or BJP.
Humayun Kabir, a suspended Trinamool Congress legislator, sought Z Plus security from the Calcutta High Court.
The court dismissed his plea and advised him to approach the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for security cover.
Kabir claimed he was under life threat due to lack of security provided by the state government.
The court observed that the Union Home Ministry decides on security cover based on threat assessment.
Kabir was suspended from Trinamool Congress after announcing the formation of his own party, Janata Unnayan Party (JUP).
