SIR Exercise Focused on Electoral Rolls, Not Welfare Schemes
The Telangana government is updating its voter list to make sure it is correct.
The Chief Electoral Officer, C Sudarshan Reddy, said this work has nothing to do with any government welfare programs.
Most of the list has already been turned into digital form, but the final forms must be finished by August 3.
Officials are told to double‑check the data and face penalties if they make mistakes.
They also have to make sure polling stations are set up properly and that meetings with political parties are recorded.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer clarified SIR is solely for accurate electoral rolls, unrelated to welfare schemes.
76% of statewide digitisation completed, 90% in rural areas, with 5 days left to submit forms.
100% digitisation achieved in several assembly constituencies; urban areas targeted for completion by Aug 3.
Officials instructed to ensure accurate uploading of voter details, with disciplinary action for negligence.
Polling station rationalisation and ASD list preparation require party signatures and videography of meetings.
