Trinidad and Tobago Pursues UPI Adoption, Deepening India Partnership

Trinidad and Tobago wants to use India’s digital payment system, called UPI.

If completed, it would be the first Caribbean country to do so.

UPI can help people and businesses make payments quickly.

The plan is being developed by Indian and Trinidad and Tobago organizations.

The two countries are also working together on trade, technology, healthcare, education, and energy.

India and Trinidad and Tobago have had diplomatic relations for 64 years.

Their people also share historical and cultural connections.

Trinidad and Tobago will serve on the United Nations Security Council during 2027 and 2028.
