FTC Orders Amazon to Refund Prime Members $1.5 Billion
The FTC has reached a deal with Amazon.
Amazon will pay a massive $2.5 billion settlement, including $1.5 billion in refunds for customers.
This is because the FTC said Amazon made it tricky for people to sign up for and cancel their Prime memberships.
Customers who were tricked or had trouble canceling between 2019 and 2025 may get money back.
Refunds could be up to $51.
Amazon will give money back in two phases, some automatically and some through a claim form.
The FTC is making sure Amazon doesn't do this again.
Amazon agreed to a $2.5 billion settlement with the FTC.
$1.5 billion of the settlement will be used for customer refunds.
The settlement addresses claims of deceptive practices in Prime sign-ups and cancellations.
Customers in the U.S. who signed up or tried to cancel during the specified period may be eligible.
Refunds are capped at $51 per customer and will be distributed in two phases.
