Mumbai Housing Society Queries: Nomination Rights and Quota Seats
In Mumbai housing societies, members can nominate one or more people to inherit their shares and rights.
The order of nomination doesn't matter; all nominees get equal rights unless specified otherwise.
If a society doesn't have members from reserved categories like SC/ST or women, those seats in the managing committee stay empty.
General category members can't fill these quota seats.
The legal expert also explained that nominees become provisional members after the member's death, but the legal heirs get the final rights.
Members can nominate multiple people with equal rights unless specified otherwise.
First nominee doesn't have special rights over the second nominee.
Reserved seats in managing committees must remain vacant if no eligible members are present.
General category members cannot fill quota seats reserved for SC/ST, OBC, Nomadic Tribes, or women.
Nominees are provisional members; legal heirs get final rights.
