Odisha Vigilance Arrests Engineer After Seizing Rs 7.15 Lakh
Odisha Vigilance is an agency that investigates suspected corruption.
It arrested Anupama Sahoo, a government engineer in Kendrapada district.
Officials stopped her official vehicle on Saturday while she was traveling home from work.
They said they found Rs 3.15 lakh with her.
They also searched her house and found another Rs 4 lakh.
This made the total cash seized Rs 7.15 lakh.
Officials said she could not satisfactorily explain the money.
They also reported finding several properties, businesses and deposits linked to her.
A corruption case has been registered, but the allegations will be handled through the legal process.
Odisha Vigilance arrested Assistant Executive Engineer Anupama Sahoo in Kendrapada after intercepting her official vehicle.
Officials recovered Rs 3.15 lakh from Sahoo during the interception at Marshaghai Crossing.
A further Rs 4 lakh was seized from her residence, bringing the total cash recovery to Rs 7.15 lakh.
Searches also identified property, business assets and deposits worth Rs 63 lakh, according to Vigilance officials.
A case was registered under Sections 13(2) and 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
