UPSTDC Prepares for Magh Mela 2026
The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) has set up a special tent colony called Sangam Tent Colony near the riverfront in Prayagraj.
This is to help the many people who come to the city for the Magh Mela, especially around Makar Sankranti.
The tent colony has 50 cottages in three categories: Premium, Luxury, and Deluxe, with different prices.
It offers meals, places for prayers, and even local crafts for sale.
The goal is to give visitors a comfortable and organized place to stay while they focus on their spiritual journey.
This also helps local artisans by giving them a place to sell their handmade items.
Over nine lakh devotees took a dip in the Ganga and at the Sangam on Makar Sankranti, with expectations of the number rising to between one crore and 1.5 crore by the evening.
The government has deployed over 10,000 police personnel and set up 42 temporary parking facilities to manage the crowds and ensure smooth traffic flow.
