BJP Targets 170-180 Wards in Kolkata Civic Polls, Eyes Mayor

The BJP is getting ready for Kolkata’s city elections.

It plans to make an SOP, which is a set of rules, for choosing candidates.

Sukanta Majumdar is leading the party’s election preparations.

The BJP says it wants to win 170 to 180 seats in a proposed system of 209 wards.

It also claims to be ahead in 101 of the current 144 wards.

People from different parts of society may be considered as candidates.

The party says clean reputations and long ties to the BJP will be important.

It also wants to form the city government and choose what it calls a “Sanatani mayor.”
