Jharkhand Left Parties Demand SIR Halt, CEC Resignation

Jharkhand Left Parties Demand SIR Halt, CEC Resignation

Several Left-wing political parties in Jharkhand want the voter-list checking process to stop.

This process is called Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.

They also want Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

The parties accused the Election Commission of acting like an agent of the BJP and Union government.

They said many voters could lose their names from electoral rolls.

They asked the Supreme Court to examine a report about disagreements inside the Election Commission.

The report said two election commissioners had objected to some decisions and orders.

The parties plan protests in Jharkhand from September 28 to October 2.
