Nepal Election Commission Registers New Communist Party Led by Prachanda
A new political party called the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has been officially approved by Nepal's Election Commission.
This new party was formed when about ten smaller communist groups decided to join together.
The leader of this new party is a former prime minister named Prachanda, and another former prime minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal, is helping to lead it.
This new party might become a strong competitor for the biggest communist party in Nepal, which is led by K P Sharma Oli.
The Election Commission is also making it easier for people to sign up to vote by giving them a few extra days.
This is happening because many people, especially young people, are trying to register to vote before the general election in March.
Many new political groups are forming or joining together in Nepal right now.
The Election Commission of Nepal has officially registered a newly formed Nepali Communist Party (NCP) led by Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
The NCP was formed through the merger of at least 10 smaller communist political parties.
The new party is expected to challenge the CPN-UML, currently the largest communist party in Nepal led by K P Sharma Oli.
The Election Commission has extended the deadline for new voter registration by five days to November 21.
Approximately 2,57,505 new voters had registered as of Thursday.
