AP Olympic Association chief seeks complete overhaul of SAAP
A man named Mr. Purushotham is in charge of the Olympic sports group in a part of India called Andhra Pradesh.
He said he is upset about some cheating that has been happening with sports certificates.
A sports certificate is a paper that says you are a good athlete.
In India, some government jobs are set aside for good athletes, and this is called the sports quota.
Mr. Purushotham says people who are not real athletes got these jobs by using fake certificates.
He says the office that checks these papers, called SAAP, did not do its job properly.
He wants SAAP to be completely fixed and cleaned up.
He also says a sports program called Operation Gandeevam had problems too.
He says he told the government about these issues before, but no one took action.
Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) president RK Purushotham demanded a comprehensive overhaul of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP).
He alleged irregularities in the issuance and verification of sports certificates enabled ineligible candidates to secure jobs under the sports quota.
The affected recruitments include DSC teacher recruitment, Village/Ward Secretariat (Sachivalayam) recruitments, and the Animal Husbandry Department.
He claimed SAAP officials and staff, along with representatives of several sports associations, were responsible for issuing or facilitating bogus certificates.
He also alleged corruption in Operation Gandeevam, a sports promotion initiative launched by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in 2018.
