Upgraded Human Milk Bank Opens in Pune
A hospital in Pune, India, has opened a new and improved Human Milk Bank.
This bank gives special milk from other mothers to tiny babies who are very sick or born too early.
The milk is checked and made safe in special machines.
More than 2,200 babies have already been helped by this milk bank.
Two companies, Finolex Industries and the Mukul Madhav Foundation, helped pay for the new machines.
They want to make sure all babies get the best food to help them grow strong and healthy.
The milk bank is very important because it gives babies the best chance to survive and get better.
Bharati Hospital in Pune inaugurated an upgraded Human Milk Bank on December 24, 2025.
The facility is supported by Finolex Industries Ltd and the Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF).
The upgraded milk bank includes advanced pasteurisation and milk-banking equipment.
Since March 2022, the milk bank has supported over 2,200 infants with 1,500 litres of donor milk from 1,900 mothers.
The upgrade aims to improve processing efficiency and expand access to critical nutrition for premature and medically fragile infants.
