HRCB: Balochistan Sees Escalation of State Violence in 2025
A human rights group says things got much worse in Balochistan.
They found that many more people disappeared in the first half of 2025 than the whole of 2024.
Security forces are accused of violence and killing people without a trial.
A group called BYC is being targeted, with leaders arrested and protests stopped.
Also, the government passed a new law that gives security forces more power, which is concerning to many people.
HRCB reports a sharp rise in state violence in Balochistan during the first half of 2025.
814 enforced disappearances were documented, nearly matching the total for all of 2024.
At least 131 people were reportedly killed without trial.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) faced severe repression, including arrests and smear campaigns.
A controversial amendment to the Anti-Terrorism Act granted sweeping powers to security agencies.
