IAF Rafale Jets Join Australia's Pitch Black Exercise
The Indian Air Force is sending its Rafale fighter jets to Australia for a big air exercise called 'Pitch Black'.
This exercise is hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force and will take place from July 20 to August 7, 2026.
Many countries, including India, will participate with their air forces.
The exercise helps different countries work together and learn from each other.
The Indian Air Force's IL-78 aircraft will also support the Rafale jets by refuelling them in the air.
The exercise will happen in Darwin, Australia, and people in the area will get to see the aircraft and meet the military personnel.
This is a great opportunity for the Indian Air Force to show its capabilities and work with other friendly air forces.
Multiple IAF Rafale aircraft will participate in the Pitch Black exercise in Australia from July 20 to August 7, 2026.
The exercise aims to enhance operational synergy and exchange best practices among participating air forces.
Pitch Black is the RAAF's largest international exercise, featuring complex combat-like scenarios.
The Indian Embassy in Jakarta acknowledged Indonesia's support in allowing the IAF to operate from Juanda airport, Surabaya for mid-air refuelling.
The exercise will involve over 100 aircraft and personnel from 19 allied and partner nations.
