Buc-ee’s Trademark Lawsuit Sparks Beavercreek Backlash

Buc-ee’s Trademark Lawsuit Sparks Beavercreek Backlash

Buc-ee’s is a large Texas convenience-store company with a famous beaver mascot.

It sued a much smaller Ohio store called Beaver’s Mini Mart.

Buc-ee’s says the smaller store’s beaver logo looks too much like its own.

Beaver’s logo shows a smiling, waving beaver, while Buc-ee’s logo shows a beaver face wearing a red cap.

Many people in Beavercreek think the lawsuit is unfair to a local business.

The city made the beaver an official part of its history after the dispute began.

Businesses and customers have shown support by selling cookies, changing logos and raising money.

Comedian John Oliver also made fun of Buc-ee’s trademark lawsuits.

Buc-ee’s says it tried to contact the mini mart’s owner before filing the case.
