Southern Cities Lead GCC Space Leasing in India
Companies, called GCCs, are setting up offices in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
These GCCs are renting a lot of office space.
In early 2025, they leased a large portion of the total office space in major Indian cities.
The IT and finance industries are leading this trend.
The government is also encouraging more companies to open GCCs in India, which is expected to keep growing, and could double in size by 2030.
Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad dominated GCC space leasing in Q1 2025.
GCCs leased 8.35 million sq. ft. of gross office space in the top seven cities.
GCCs accounted for 43% of overall office space leasing in the top seven cities.
IT/ITeS led GCC leasing with a 35% share, followed by BFSI at 22%.
A government initiative is accelerating the growth of GCCs in India.
