Delhi Police Strengthen Jantar Mantar Amid CJP Protest Threat
A group called the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had been protesting for 36 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, asking for the Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to quit.
They warned that if the police didn’t drop the charges against them, they would start the protest again.
Because of this, the Delhi Police put extra guards and welded the barricades together with iron.
They also sent a Rapid Action Force team to watch the area all day and night.
On July 25, the protest stopped after Pradhan resigned as Education Minister, so the police didn’t have to keep the extra security.
Delhi Police reinforced security at Jantar Mantar after CJP threatened to resume protest if FIRs were not withdrawn.
Barricades were welded together with iron and a Rapid Action Force company was deployed round the clock.
The 36‑day CJP protest demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The protest was called off on July 25 after Pradhan resigned as Union Education Minister.
Police said security arrangements were made in anticipation of a gathering at Jantar Mantar.
