Thane School Hosts Lake Photography Exhibition
A school in Thane held a special photo show to talk about how some lakes in the city are not doing well.
They showed pictures of these lakes and told people about how they need to be taken care of.
The school worked with a group called Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal to do this.
They want students to help take care of the lakes because they will be the ones to look after them in the future.
The group has already got 23 lakes to be taken care of by different schools and has many volunteers helping.
The school thinks this is a good way to teach students about how important it is to look after nature.
CP Goenka International School, Thane, organized a lake photography exhibition on December 20, 2023, in collaboration with Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal.
The exhibition showcased photographs depicting the deteriorating condition of several lakes in Thane, with around 40 students acting as guides.
The event was part of the 'Majha Talao' (My Lake) campaign launched in June 2023, aiming to beautify and conserve Thane's lakes.
Thane once had 60 lakes, but only 42 remain today, many in poor condition, with 23 lakes already adopted for conservation.
The initiative encourages student participation through various activities and aims to make them future custodians of the environment.
