Life Imprisonment for Assam Terror Module Plot
A man named Md Kamruj Zaman was sentenced to life in prison for planning to create a terror group in Assam, India.
This group was part of a larger organization called Hizbul Mujahideen.
Zaman and his friends planned to scare people and cause trouble.
The court also fined him and said he could go to jail for more time if he doesn't pay the fine.
Four other people were also involved, but one of them died before the trial ended.
The court gave Zaman three different prison sentences that will run at the same time.
Md Kamruj Zaman was sentenced to life imprisonment for planning a Hizbul Mujahideen terror module in Assam during 2017-18.
He received additional sentences of 5 years each under various sections of UAPA and IPC, to run concurrently with life imprisonment.
Zaman was fined ₹5,000 per count with a possibility of 3 months additional imprisonment for default.
He recruited Sahnawaz Alom, Saidul Alam, Omar Faruk, and others for the terror activities.
Three of the accused pleaded guilty and were convicted, while the fifth accused, Jaynal Uddin, died during the trial.
