Himachal Completes Lease Process for New Palampur IIT Campus

The Himachal Pradesh government and IIT Mandi have completed the first part of a land lease for a new campus in Palampur.

The signed lease covers about 550 kanals of land.

Another 800 kanals may be given to the institute after forest permissions are completed.

Altogether, the campus is expected to cover about 1,400 kanals.

NIT Hamirpur has already surveyed the land.

Officials say the campus could create more education and job opportunities.

They also expect it to encourage new technology and help the local economy.

IIT Mandi says it plans to build a modern facility on schedule.
