TRAI Caps Microwave Backhaul Spectrum Charges

TRAI Caps Microwave Backhaul Spectrum Charges

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has suggested lowering the fees for using certain radio waves, called microwave backhaul bands, to just 0.1% of a company's total earnings.

This change will save wireless service providers money.

TRAI also recommended specific fees for different types of radio waves, like ₹75,000 per year for some bands and ₹25,000 for others.

They suggested that these radio waves should be used mainly for connecting different parts of wireless networks.

For a special type called E-band, they proposed a 33% reduction in fees and allowing more bandwidth.

Another type, V-band, can be used by different entities for connecting networks, with a limit of 20 connections per link.

TRAI also suggested that V-band can be used freely for low-power indoor and outdoor use without causing interference.
