Supreme Court Orders Release of TDR Certificates to Royal Heirs
The Supreme Court told the government of Karnataka to give some special certificates called TDRs to the family of the old Mysore royalty.
These certificates are worth a lot of money, over 3000 crore rupees, because the government took some of their land to make roads wider.
The royal family went to court because the government tried to get out of giving them the certificates, but the court said the government has to give them.
The land was taken from the Bangalore Palace grounds.
The court's decision means the royal family will now receive the value of their land.
Supreme Court ordered the Karnataka government to release TDR certificates.
TDR certificates worth over ₹3,000 crore are for land acquired for road widening.
The land acquired was part of the Bangalore Palace Grounds.
The legal heirs of the erstwhile Mysuru royal family are the beneficiaries.
The government had attempted to avoid issuing the TDR through an ordinance.
