The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a criminal case against Jai Anmol Ambani, the son of industrialist Anil Ambani, and Ravindra Sudhalkar, the former CEO of Reliance Home Finance Ltd (RHFL).

The case involves allegations of fraud and misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs 228.06 crore from Union Bank of India.

The bank had extended a loan of Rs 450 crore to RHFL, but the company failed to repay it, leading to the account being declared a non-performing asset (NPA) in 2019.

A forensic audit by Grant Thornton revealed that the loan funds were allegedly diverted for purposes other than those for which they were extended.

The CBI is investigating the case and examining company documents and records.

This is the first criminal case filed against Jai Anmol Ambani.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth Rs 10,117 crore related to the Anil Ambani Reliance Group in a separate bank fraud case involving Reliance Communications Limited (RCom), Reliance Commercial Finance, and Reliance Home Finance.
