Adani Enterprises Emerges Lowest Bidder for Bengaluru Tunnel Road Project
Adani Enterprises offered the lowest price to build a large tunnel road in Bengaluru.
The planned road would connect Hebbal and Silk Board.
It is designed to help reduce traffic on one of the city’s busiest routes.
Adani’s price was higher than the government’s estimated cost.
Because of this difference, the government has not awarded the contract yet.
The state Cabinet may accept the bid, ask for a lower price, or seek new bids.
Gautam Adani also met Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
Reports say preliminary testing and surveying have already started, although the contract is still pending.
Adani Enterprises has been declared the lowest bidder, or L1, for Bengaluru’s 16.75-kilometre Hebbal–Silk Board tunnel road.
The company quoted Rs. 22,267 crore, about Rs. 4,569 crore above the government’s Rs. 17,698-crore estimate.
The contract has not yet been awarded, and the state Cabinet must decide whether to accept, negotiate, or retender the project.
The project will use a Build-Operate-Transfer model, with 40% viability-gap funding from the government and 60% from the private partner.
Gautam Adani met Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, while reports said Adani Enterprises had begun preliminary surveys and soil testing.
