SIFs gain traction with 20,779 folios in three months

Specialised Investment Funds (SIFs) are a new type of mutual fund in India that allow investors to take both long and short positions.

Since they were launched in September, over 20,000 investors have opened SIF accounts.

These funds require a minimum investment of Rs 10 lakh and are designed for wealthier investors.

The funds have grown quickly, with the total money invested rising from Rs 2,004 crore in October to Rs 4,892 crore by December.

Some mutual fund companies are excited about the new opportunities SIFs offer, while others are taking their time to build their capabilities before launching their own funds.
