Royal Bengal tigress dies at Sundarbans rescue centre
A grown-up tiger, called a Royal Bengal tigress, lived at a special rescue centre in the Sundarbans, a big forest area in India.
A few months ago, she was found very sick in the forest and could barely walk.
Forest workers worked hard to catch her and take her somewhere safe.
She was first taken to a zoo in Kolkata called Alipore Zoo, where doctors cared for her for about four months.
Slowly, she got better and was moved back to the Jharkhali Tiger Rescue Centre.
But one morning, she started feeling very sleepy and weak, and she had a fever.
The doctors tried their best to help her, but she was too sick and passed away.
After she died, special animal doctors did an autopsy to find out why she got so sick.
Everyone who took care of her is sad that they could not save her.

Before returning to Jharkhali in March 2025, she was treated for about four months at the Alipore Zoo in Kolkata under specialist supervision.
An autopsy has been conducted, and the forest department is awaiting the report to determine the exact cause of death.
