Indore Water Tragedy Leads to Official Changes
A new officer named Kshitij Singhal has been appointed as the head of the city government in Indore.
This happened after the previous head, Dilip Kumar Yadav, was removed because of a serious problem with dirty water that caused many people to get sick and sadly, at least 15 people died.
The problem started many years ago when the government took a big loan to fix the water supply, but not much was done.
The new officer is known for being strict and hardworking.
He will now be in charge of making sure the city runs smoothly.
His wife is also an officer, and they both work to help people in different cities.
Three other officers have also been posted to help in Indore.
The government is now investigating why the problem was not fixed earlier, even though there were many complaints and warnings.
Kshitij Singhal, an IAS officer of the 2014 batch, was appointed as the new Commissioner of Indore Municipal Corporation on Saturday.
The change comes after the state government removed Dilip Kumar Yadav following a contaminated water tragedy that resulted in at least 15 deaths.
Additional Commissioner Rohit Sisonia and Superintending Engineer Sanjeev Shrivastava were suspended in connection with the tragedy.
Three IAS officers - Akash Singh, Prakhar Singh, and Ashish Pathak - were posted in the Indore Municipal Corporation.
The crisis was rooted in years of neglect, bureaucratic delays, and a 2019 CAG report that highlighted systemic failures in water supply management.
