Keshavji Naik Chawl Ganpati To Be Immersed in Artificial Ponds
For the first time, a 132-year-old Ganesh idol will be put in an artificial pond instead of the sea.
This is because the court and pollution control board said no to putting the idols in the sea or a lake.
The group that organizes the event is upset because they thought they could use the lake.
They say the authorities promised they could, but then changed their minds.
The court made the final decision, so the idols will have to go into the artificial ponds instead.
This means that the usual tradition will change this year.
The 132-year-old Keshavji Naik Chawl Ganpati idols will be immersed in artificial ponds.
The change follows the Bombay High Court's refusal and MPCB's denial.
Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganpati Samanvay Samiti expresses disappointment over MPCB's actions.
The Samiti claims MPCB initially promised permission for immersion at traditional spots.
The court rejected a petition to allow immersion in Banganga lake.
